106. כְּמוֹ זֶה, טֶרֶם שֶׁחָטְאוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁעָמְדוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל הַר סִינַי, הָעָבְרָה מֵהֶם זֻהַמְתּוֹ שֶׁל הַנָּחָשׁ הַזֶּה, שֶׁהֲרֵי אָז בִּטּוּל שֶׁל יֵצֶר הָרָע הָיָה בָּעוֹלָם, וְדָחוּ אוֹתוֹ מֵהֶם, וְאָז נֶאֶחְזוּ בְּעֵץ הַחַיִּים וְעָלוּ לְמַעְלָה, וְלֹא יָרְדוּ לְמַטָּה. אָז הָיוּ מַכִּירִים וְהָיוּ רוֹאִים אַסְפַּקְלָרְיוֹת הָעֶלְיוֹנוֹת, וְעֵינֵיהֶם הוּאֲרוּ, וְשָׂמְחוּ לְהַכִּיר וְלִשְׁמֹעַ. וְאָז חָגַר אוֹתָם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא בַּחֲגוֹרוֹת שֶׁל אוֹתִיּוֹת הַשֵּׁם הַקָּדוֹשׁ שֶׁלֹּא יוּכַל לִשְׁלֹט עֲלֵיהֶם הַנָּחָשׁ הַזֶּה, וְלֹא יְטַמֵּא אוֹתָם כְּבָרִאשׁוֹנָה.
\n107. כֵּיוָן שֶׁחָטְאוּ בָּעֵגֶל, הָעָבְרוּ מֵהֶם כָּל אוֹתָן הַדְּרָגוֹת וְהָאוֹרוֹת הָעֶלְיוֹנִים, וְהָעָבְרָה מֵהֶם חֲגוֹרַת כְּלֵי הַזַּיִן שֶׁהִתְעַטְּרוּ מֵהַשֵּׁם הַקָּדוֹשׁ הָעֶלְיוֹן, וְהִמְשִׁיכוּ עֲלֵיהֶם הַנָּחָשׁ הָרָע כְּמִקֹּדֶם, וְגָרְמוּ מָוֶת לְכָל הָעוֹלָם. וְאַחַר כָּךְ מַה כָּתוּב? וַיַּרְא אַהֲרֹן וְכָל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת מֹשֶׁה וְהִנֵּה קָרַן עוֹר פָּנָיו וַיִּירְאוּ מִגֶּשֶׁת אֵלָיו.
\n108. בֹּא וּרְאֵה, מַה כָּתוּב בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה? (שמות יד) וַיַּרְא יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת הַיָּד הַגְּדֹלָה. וְכֻלָּם רָאוּ אֶת הַזְּהָרִים הָעֶלְיוֹנִים נְאוֹרִים בָּאַסְפַּקְלַרְיָה הַמְּאִירָה, שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם כ) וְכָל הָעָם רֹאִים אֶת הַקּוֹלֹת. וְעַל הַיָּם הָיוּ רוֹאִים וְלֹא פוֹחֲדִים, שֶׁכָּתוּב זֶה אֵלִי וְאַנְוֵהוּ. אַחַר שֶׁחָטְאוּ, פְּנֵי הַסַּרְסוּר לֹא הָיוּ יְכוֹלִים לִרְאוֹת. מַה כָּתוּב? וַיִּירְאוּ מִגֶּשֶׁת אֵלָיו.<\/div>\n

Zohar Ki Tisa<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBefore the sin of the Golden Calf, Israel<\/a> was in a pure state at Mount Sinai. At that time, the Evil Inclination was removed from the world and the people united with the Tree of Life<\/a> and ascended to higher levels. Their eyes were illuminated with the supernal<\/a> Lights of Zeir Anpin<\/a>, and they were happy to know and hear on that level. Then the Holy One Blessed be He armed them with belts of letters of the Holy Name so the Snake<\/a> won’t be able to control and defile them as he did in Egypt.
\nAfter the sin, the ‘ornaments’ of the holy name were stripped out of them.
\nExodus 33:6<\/a>
\n“וַיִּתְנַצְּלוּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת עֶדְיָם מֵהַר חוֹרֵב”
\n“So the children of Israel<\/a> stripped themselves of their ornaments by Mount Horeb.” <\/p>\n

\nAfter the sin they lost the high levels they ascended to, including the upper Lights, and the belts that were powered with the holy name.
\nThe evil Snake<\/a> came back as before and restored mortality to the world. Then we read;
\nExodus 34:30<\/a>
\n“וַיַּרְא אַהֲרֹן וְכָל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת מֹשֶׁה וְהִנֵּה קָרַן עוֹר פָּנָיו וַיִּירְאוּ מִגֶּשֶׁת אֵלָיו.”
\n“So when Aaron and all the children of Israel<\/a> saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.”
\nThe children of Israel<\/a> that saw supernal<\/a> Lights before the sin, fell down after the sin and couldn’t come near Moses that his face was illuminated with the Light of Zeir Anpin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nExodus 14:31<\/a>
\n“וַיַּרְא יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת הַיָּד הַגְּדֹלָה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יְהוָה בְּמִצְרַיִם וַיִּירְאוּ הָעָם אֶת יְהוָה וַיַּאֲמִינוּ בַּיהוָה וּבְמֹשֶׁה עַבְדּוֹ.”
\n“Thus Israel<\/a> saw the great work which YHVH<\/a> had done in Egypt; so the people feared YHVH<\/a>, and believed YHVH<\/a> and His servant Moses.”<\/p>\n

After the splitting of the sea, Israel<\/a> saw the great work of the miracles made for them, and they praised YHVH<\/a> and sang.<\/p>\n

Exodus 15:2<\/a>
\n“עָזִּי וְזִמְרָת יָהּ וַיְהִי לִי לִישׁוּעָה זֶה אֵלִי וְאַנְוֵהוּ אֱלֹהֵי אָבִי וַאֲרֹמְמֶנְהוּ.”
\n“YHVH<\/a> is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.”<\/p>\n

After the sin, they couldn’t stay close to the mountain because the Light was too high for them to handle. The farther they were from the Light the greater they feared it. <\/p>\n

Exodus 20:14<\/a>
\n“וְכָל הָעָם רֹאִים אֶת הַקּוֹלֹת וְאֶת הַלַּפִּידִם וְאֵת קוֹל הַשֹּׁפָר וְאֶת הָהָר עָשֵׁן וַיַּרְא הָעָם וַיָּנֻעוּ וַיַּעַמְדוּ מֵרָחֹק.”
\n“Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.”<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nThe negative ‘baggage’ we carry pulls us down into darker levels, where we ‘tremble’ and fear. As we reach purer states with our actions, we can ascend higher and connect to greater support from the Light that provides protection and removes the fears from the unknown.
\nWhen the Light with us we can sing and praise Hashem<\/a> without fear.<\/p>\n
