\nRabbi Aba says that the change from ‘tent’ to ‘Tent of Meeting’ is not positive. In the beginning, it was a simple ‘Tent’ as it is written;
\nIsaiah 33:20<\/a>
\n“חֲזֵה צִיּוֹן קִרְיַת מוֹעֲדֵנוּ עֵינֶיךָ תִרְאֶינָה יְרוּשָׁלַ‍ִם נָוֶה שַׁאֲנָן אֹהֶל בַּל יִצְעָן בַּל יִסַּע יְתֵדֹתָיו לָנֶצַח וְכָל חֲבָלָיו בַּל יִנָּתֵקוּ.”
\n“Look upon Zion<\/a>, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem<\/a>, a quiet home, A tent that will not be taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, Nor will any of its cords be broken.”
\nBefore the sin it was as the verse says ‘A tent that will not be taken down’, Then it became a ‘Tent of meeting’ to indicate the time and a temporary state. In the beginning, not like the current state, there was no blemish in the tent that is Malchut<\/a>. Before the sin, there was a continuous unification between the moon, which is Malchut<\/a>, and the sun, which is Zeir Anpin<\/a>. After the sin, the unification is only from time to time. For that reason, Moses called it ‘Tent of Meeting’ ‘אוהל מועד’ to describe the spiritual state that wasn’t before.<\/p>\n

\nRabbi Shimon was studying one night and with him were Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yitzchak, and Rabbi Yossi. Rabbi Yehuda says we read (Exodus 33:6<\/a>) that Israel<\/a> lost the protection they had before the sin of the Golden Calf. Israel<\/a> brought mortality to the world and the Snake<\/a> could control them again. The question is what happened to Joshua that didn’t take part in the sin. Did he lose the protection he had before the sin?<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nRabbi Elazar saw a positive aspect to the name change of the Tent, and Rabbi Aba saw the negative aspect of that. The Zohar didn’t state who is correct, just presented both opinions.<\/p>\n
