101. וְלָמַדְנוּ, וְרָאִיתִי אָנִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ יִתְרוֹן לַחָכְמָה מִן הַסִּכְלוּת. מִן הַסִּכְלוּת מַמָּשׁ בָּאָה תוֹעֶלֶת לַחָכְמָה. שֶׁאִלְמָלֵא לֹא נִמְצְאָה שְׁטוּת בָּעוֹלָם, לֹא נוֹדְעָה הַחָכְמָה וּדְבָרֶיהָ. וְלָמַדְנוּ, חִיּוּב הוּא עַל אָדָם שֶׁלָּמַד חָכְמָה לִלְמֹד מְעַט מִן הַשְּׁטוּת וְלָדַעַת אוֹתוֹ, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁבָּאָה תוֹעֶלֶת לַחָכְמָה בִּשְׁבִילוֹ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁבָּאָה תוֹעֶלֶת לָאוֹר מִן הַחֲשֵׁכָה. שֶׁאִלְמָלֵא הַחֲשֵׁכָה לֹא נוֹדָע הָאוֹר, וְלֹא בָאָה (נִרְאֵית) לָעוֹלָם תּוֹעֶלֶת מִמֶּנּוּ.
\n102. שָׁנָה, שֶׁיֵּשׁ יִתְרוֹן לַחָכְמָה, לַחָכְמָה סְתָם. שֶׁאָמַר רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן לְרַבִּי אַבָּא, בֹּא וּרְאֵה סוֹד הַדָּבָר, לֹא מְאִירָה הַחָכְמָה שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה וְלֹא נְאוֹרָה אֶלָּא בִּשְׁבִיל הַשְּׁטוּת שֶׁמִּתְעוֹרֶרֶת מִמָּקוֹם אַחֵר, וְאִלְמָלֵא זֶה, אוֹר וּמִשְׁחָה רַבָּה וְיוֹתֵר לֹא הָיְתָה (לִהְיוֹת), וְלֹא נִרְאֲתָה תוֹעַלְתָּהּ שֶׁל הַחָכְמָה, וּמִשּׁוּם הַשְּׁטוּת מֵאִיר יוֹתֵר, וּמְאִירִים לוֹ יוֹתֵר. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב שֶׁיֵּשׁ יִתְרוֹן לַחָכְמָה, לַחָכְמָה סְתָם, מִן הַסִּכְלוּת סְתָם. וְכָךְ לְמַטָּה, אִלְמָלֵא לֹא הָיְתָה שְׁטוּת מְצוּיָה בָעוֹלָם, לֹא הָיְתָה הַחָכְמָה מְצוּיָה בָעוֹלָם.<\/div>\n

Zohar Tazria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ecclesiastes 2:13<\/a>
\n“וְרָאִיתִי אָנִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ יִתְרוֹן לַחָכְמָה מִן הַסִּכְלוּת כִּיתְרוֹן הָאוֹר מִן הַחֹשֶׁךְ.”
\n“Then I saw that wisdom excels folly As light excels darkness.”<\/p>\n

\nIf there was no folly in the world we wouldn’t be able to recognize wisdom, therefore wisdom would not have value without the existence of folly. Because of that, a person that studies wisdom needs to study and know about folly to appreciate and value wisdom.
\nIt is the same with darkness. We would not be able to appreciate and value light without experiencing darkness.<\/p>\n

#102
\nRabbi Shimon explains to Rabbi Aba the secret of wisdom and folly. He says that the supernal<\/a> Wisdom (Chokmah<\/a>) illuminates only because folly rises in another place. Without this folly, there would not be an expansion of light and the value of wisdom won’t be found. As folly looks illuminated, wisdom would shine brighter upon it. This is why it is written ‘wisdom excels folly’.
\nIt is the same on the level of this world. If there was no folly in the world, there would be no wisdom in the world. <\/p>\n
