139. בּוֹ יָרוּץ צַדִּיק, בַּמֶּה? בְּמִגְדָּל אוֹ בְּסֵפֶר תּוֹרָה? אֶלָּא הַפָּסוּק נִדְרָשׁ בָּזֶה וּבָזֶה. כְּשֶׁדּוֹרְשִׁים בְּמִגְדָּל, צָרִיךְ צַדִּיק זֶה שֶׁיִּהְיֶה חַזַּן הַכְּנֶסֶת צַדִּיק אֱמֶת, וּדְמוּת שֶׁל צַדִּיק עֶלְיוֹן. כְּשֶׁדּוֹרְשִׁים בְּסֵפֶר תּוֹרָה, מִי שֶׁעוֹלֶה לַסֵּפֶר תּוֹרָה לִקְרֹא בַתּוֹרָה, צָרִיךְ צַדִּיק, וְצַדִּיק נִקְרָא. מִי נִקְרָא צַדִּיק מִכֻּלָּם? הַשִּׁשִּׁי שֶׁעוֹלֶה מֵאוֹתָם שִׁבְעָה. אָמַר רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן, וַדַּאי שֶׁהוּא לֹא עוֹלֶה כָּל יָמָיו, אֶלָּא שִׁשִּׁי לְאוֹתָם שֶׁעוֹלִים. בּוֹ יָרוּץ צַדִּיק, בְּסֵפֶר תּוֹרָה יָרוּץ דִּבְרֵי צַדִּיק זֶה. וְנִשְׂגָּב מִמָּה? מִפַּחַד מַלְאַךְ הַמָּוֶת, שֶׁהֲרֵי מַאֲרִיךְ יָמִים. וְנִשְׂגָּב שֶׁלֹּא יִנָּזֵק לְעוֹלָם.<\/div>\n

\n“מִגְדַּל עֹז שֵׁם יְהוָה בּוֹ יָרוּץ צַדִּיק וְנִשְׂגָּב.”
\n“The name of YHVH<\/a> is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and exalted.”

\nHe asks; run to the ‘Strong Tower’ or run to the Torah, and answers that the scripture discusses both the tower and the Torah. The Tower is the Chazan (Cantor) aspect, who leads the prayers of the congregation. He should be truly righteous as required for a connection to Yessod<\/a>.
\nThose who are called to read the Torah should be righteous. Out of the seven called to the Torah, the sixth person is called Tzadik because the sixth reading is on the level of Yessod<\/a> that is called Tzadik.
\nRabbi Shimon says that this is correct because Rabbi Cruspedai never went up to the Torah unless it was the sixth reading. “And exalted” means to elevate above the fear and control of the angel of death<\/a> because he will live longer and never get harmed.<\/p>\n

\nIn that tower that rises among the towers stands a light in the image of the Torah scroll. When the bird comes, she moves the tower and places it in the middle of the temple’s court inside the Cherubs’ wings. What was high in the sky is lowered and enters under the Cherubs. The walls of the tower stand between the heads of the Cherubs. <\/p>\n

Rabbi Ashlag expands the explanation in this Zohar section.
\nThe secret of the Torah reading is the revelation of the light of Chokmah<\/a> in the Center column<\/a> that is called Torah. There are three aspects; 1. The Ark, meaning the holy closet from where we take the Torah out. 2. The Torah scroll that we read from. 3. The ‘Tower,’ which is the ‘בימה,’ the elevated surface that we place the Torah on for reading.
\nThe Ark is the secret of Binah<\/a> that emanates the essence of Light that goes into the Torah. The Torah scroll is the secret of Zeir Anpin<\/a> that comes out of the Light of Binah<\/a>. The ‘Tower’ is Malchut<\/a>, where the Light of the Torah reading is revealed. <\/p>\n
