169. אַבְרָהָם נִקְרָא תָמִים, וְלֹא הָיָה כָּל כָּךְ שָׁלֵם, אֲבָל תָּם – שָׁלֵם מֵהַכֹּל. מַה כָּתוּב בְּנֹחַ? (שם ו) אִישׁ צַדִּיק תָּמִים הָיָה בְּדֹרֹתָיו. הָיָה רָשׁוּם בְּרֹשֶׁם קָדוֹשׁ בֵּינֵיהֶם. וְאָמַר רֹאשׁ הַיְשִׁיבָה, בְּכָל מָקוֹם שֶׁכָּתוּב תָּמִים, שֶׁרָשׁוּם בְּרֹשֶׁם קָדוֹשׁ בְּאוֹת קִיּוּם הַבְּרִית, וּמִשּׁוּם שֶׁשָּׁמַר הַבְּרִית נִקְרָא תָמִים בְּדֹרֹתָיו, מַה שֶּׁלֹּא הָיוּ כֻלָּם כָּךְ, שֶׁהֵם מְחַבְּלִים דַּרְכֵיהֶם.170

Abraham was called ‘<\/span>תָמִים<\/span>’, ‘complete\/perfect’ but was not so perfect yet complete in everything else. <\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 6:9<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>אֵלֶּה<\/span> <\/span>תּוֹלְדֹת<\/span> <\/span>נֹחַ<\/span> <\/span>נֹחַ<\/span> <\/span>אִישׁ<\/span> <\/span>צַדִּיק<\/span> <\/span>תָּמִים<\/span> <\/span>הָיָה<\/span> <\/span>בְּדֹרֹתָיו<\/span> <\/span>אֶת<\/span> <\/span>הָאֱלֹהִים<\/span> <\/span>הִתְהַלֶּךְ<\/span> <\/span>נֹחַ<\/span>.<\/span>״<\/span><\/p>\n

“This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, perfect (<\/span>תמים<\/span>) among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Noach was called ‘a righteous man in his generations’ (Genesis). Both Abraham and Noach had the Holy Impression. The head of the Yeshiva<\/a> said that wherever we read ‘Holy impression’ it means keeping the covenant. Because Noach kept the covenant he was called ‘righteous perfect in his generations’, while the others in his generation stumble themselves, choosing the negative path. <\/span><\/p>\n

#170<\/span><\/p>\n

It says “he walked faithfully with God”. The Zohar asks, who can walk with God? and answers that those who keep the covenant gets united with the Shechina that stays with them. <\/span><\/p>\n

Deuteronomy 18:13<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

תָּמִים<\/span> <\/span>תִּהְיֶה<\/span> <\/span>עִם<\/span> <\/span>יְהוָה<\/span> <\/span>אֱלֹהֶיך<\/span><\/p>\n

“You shall be blameless (perfect) before YHVH<\/a> your God”<\/span><\/p>\n

It says ‘be blameless (<\/span>תמים<\/span>)’ then ‘before your God’ in one sentence to teach us that keeping the covenant bring us closer to God without separation. <\/span><\/p>\n
