258. וְעַתָּה לְכָה נָּא אָרָה לִּי אֶת הָעָם הַזֶּה כִּי עָצוּם הוּא מִמֶּנִּי. רַבִּי חִזְקִיָּה פָּתַח, (ישעיה יא) וְהָיָה צֶדֶק אֵזוֹר מָתְנָיו וְהָאֱמוּנָה אֵזוֹר חֲלָצָיו. פָּסוּק זֶה הַכֹּל הוּא אֶחָד. מַה חִדּוּשׁ בָּא לְהַשְׁמִיעֵנוּ? שֶׁהֲרֵי צֶדֶק הַיְנוּ אֱמוּנָה, וֶאֱמוּנָה הַיְנוּ צֶדֶק. אֵזוֹר מָתְנָיו הַיְנוּ אֵזוֹר חֲלָצָיו. וְלֹא מָצָאנוּ פָסוּק כְּמוֹ זֶה.<\/div>\n
259. אֶלָּא לֹא צֶדֶק כְּמוֹ אֱמוּנָה, וְאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁהַכֹּל אֶחָד, וְדַרְגָּה אַחַת הִיא. אֲבָל בִּזְמַן שֶׁעוֹמְדִים בְּדִין קָשֶׁה וּמְקַבְּלִים מִצַּד שְׂמֹאל, אָז נִקְרָא צֶדֶק דִּין מַמָּשׁ, וְהַיְנוּ (שם כו) כִּי כַּאֲשֶׁר מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ לָאָרֶץ צֶדֶק לָמְדוּ יֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל. שֶׁדַּרְגָּה זוֹ שֶׁל מִשְׁפָּט הִיא רַחֲמִים. וּכְשֶׁמִּתְקָרֵב מִשְׁפָּט בְּצֶדֶק, אָז מִתְבַּשֵּׂם (הַכֹּל), וִיכוֹלִים בְּנֵי הָעוֹלָם לִסְבֹּל דִּין בְּצֶדֶק.<\/div>\n

\nNumbers 22:6<\/a>
\n“וְעַתָּה לְכָה נָּא אָרָה לִּי אֶת הָעָם הַזֶּה כִּי עָצוּם הוּא מִמֶּנִּי אוּלַי אוּכַל נַכֶּה בּוֹ וַאֲגָרְשֶׁנּוּ מִן הָאָרֶץ כִּי יָדַעְתִּי אֵת אֲשֶׁר תְּבָרֵךְ מְבֹרָךְ וַאֲשֶׁר תָּאֹר יוּאָר.”
\n“Therefore please come at once, curse these people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”<\/p>\n

Rabbi Chizkiyah refers to the judgment that Balak asks Balaam to inflict on the Israelites<\/a>. He quotes Isaiah 11:5<\/a>
\n“וְהָיָה צֶדֶק אֵזוֹר מָתְנָיו וְהָאֱמוּנָה אֵזוֹר חֲלָצָיו.”
\n“Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faith<\/a> the belt of His waist.”
\nHe says that there is nothing new in this verse because both the belt of his loins (‘אמונה<\/a>’) and the belt of the waist (‘צדק’) are the same. <\/p>\n

\nHe answers that ‘צדק’ ‘Righteousness’ (also means ‘justice’) is not like ‘אמונה<\/a>’ ‘Faith<\/a>,’ even though both are on the level of Malchut<\/a>. When Malchut<\/a> is under harsh judgment and receives from the Left, it is called ‘צדק’ ‘Justice.’ <\/p>\n

Isaiah 26:9<\/a>
\n“נַפְשִׁי אִוִּיתִיךָ בַּלַּיְלָה אַף רוּחִי בְקִרְבִּי אֲשַׁחֲרֶךָּ כִּי כַּאֲשֶׁר מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ לָאָרֶץ צֶדֶק לָמְדוּ יֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל.”
\n“With my soul, I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments (משפט, ‘court trial’) are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”
\nThe level of ‘משפט’ that is a trial in court\/judgment has an aspect of mercy that comes from Zeir Anpin<\/a>. When the ‘trial’ meets ‘צדק’ ‘justice\/judgment,’ the harsh judgment in Malchut<\/a> is sweetened by the mercy that comes from Zeir Anpin<\/a>, and the world can carry the judgment.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nJudgments and Justice is in the world of Malchut<\/a>, where we have free choice and cause and effect. The Zohar teaches us that there are harsh judgments, and we can’t avoid them, and there is an aspect of mercy that we can draw from Zeir Anpin<\/a> to sweeten the judgments in Malchut<\/a>. When we have a ‘court trial,’ we can present our good deeds and ‘extenuating circumstances.
\nThe judgment צדק pronounced ‘Tzedek’ in Malchut<\/a> is sweetened by connecting to Yessod<\/a> that is called Tzadik, with spiritual connections and ‘צדקה’ ‘Tzedakah.’<\/p>\n
