282. דָּבָר אַחֵר וְטַעַם זְקֵנִים יִקָּח – שֶׁכָּתוּב וַיֵּלְכוּ זִקְנֵי מוֹאָב וְזִקְנֵי מִדְיָן וּקְסָמִים בְּיָדָם. טַעַם אוֹתָם זְקֵנִים נָטַל מֵהֶם, וְלֹא יָכְלוּ לִשְׁלֹט כְּלָל בְּכִשְׁפֵיהֶם. וַיְדַבְּרוּ אֵלָיו דִּבְרֵי בָלָק, דְּבָרִים בְּגִלּוּי וְלֹא בְלַחַשׁ. פְּגוּם אֹזֶן הָיָה, וּפְגוּם עַיִן, וּפְגוּם רֶגֶל. מִשְּׁלֹשָׁה מְקוֹמוֹת הָיָה פָּגוּם. מְתֻקָּן הָיָה לַצַּד הָאַחֵר, וְכָךְ צָרִיךְ אוֹתוֹ צַד אַחֵר – מָקוֹם שֶׁהַפְּגָם שָׁרוּי, כָּל מִין לְמִינוֹ.<\/div>\n

\n“And takes away the discernment of the elders” (Job 12:20<\/a>).
\nNumbers 22:7<\/a>
\n“וַיֵּלְכוּ זִקְנֵי מוֹאָב וְזִקְנֵי מִדְיָן וּקְסָמִים בְּיָדָם וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל בִּלְעָם וַיְדַבְּרוּ אֵלָיו דִּבְרֵי בָלָק.”
\n“So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the diviner’s fee in their hand, and they came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak.”
\nThe Holy One Blessed be He took away the power of magic from the elders of Moab and Midyan, so they went to Balaam with Balak’s plan. Balaam had physical disabilities. He had blemishes in his ear, eye, and leg. These three places were opened for the Sitra Achra<\/a> to be part of Balaam because like attracts like.<\/p>\n

\nNumbers 22:8<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לִינוּ פֹה הַלַּיְלָה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִי אֶתְכֶם דָּבָר כַּאֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֵלָי וַיֵּשְׁבוּ שָׂרֵי מוֹאָב עִם בִּלְעָם.”
\n“And he said to them, “Lodge here tonight, and I will bring back words to you, as YHVH<\/a> speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.”
\nThe elders ‘spoke’ ‘דיבור’ to Balaam, meaning they used loud words because he was flawed in his ear. Balaam replied in the form of ‘saying’ ‘אמירה,’ meaning that he used softer words.
\nBalaam asked them to stay overnight because the night is the ti\\me of the other-side<\/a> and sorcerers. Nighttime is ruled by evil sides that spread in the world.
\nBalaam was boasting himself using the YHVH<\/a> name when saying, “I will bring back words to you, as YHVH<\/a> speaks to me.”<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nEverything that is in the perfect or unflawed state represents a complete vessel with light. Balaam’s blemishes represent negative aspects that attracted the other side<\/a>. The eye and the ear are at the levels of Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a>. Balaam’s good side was missing, and he was connected strongly to the other side<\/a>. The leg represents Malchut<\/a>, and Balaam walked only on negative paths.
\nEvery flaw that we have is part of our Tikun process<\/a> that needs correction. It is done by bringing the Light into that area and connecting it to positive. In the recent Zohar Sparks, I shared a study from Rabbi Tzadok Hakohen of Lublin ZT”L about feeling fears and their correction.
\nOur flaws are ‘attacked’ by the other-side<\/a> to put us down and ‘drag’ us deeper into the negative. Our approach should be about how to turn the flaw into strength and a tool to draw light. Hashem<\/a> would not bring us flaws that we cannot turn into positives.<\/p>\n
