292. וַיֹּאמֶר בִּלְעָם אֶל הָאֱלֹהִים בָּלָק בֶּן צִפֹּר. וְהוּא אָמַר מֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב, מֶלֶךְ חָשׁוּב, שָׁלַח אֵלָי. מֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב. רְאוּ גַאֲוָה שֶׁל אוֹתוֹ הָרָשָׁע, (שֶׁאֲפִלּוּ לְבָלָק לֹא הֶחְשִׁיב כְּלוּם) שֶׁכָּתוּב מֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב וְלֹא אָמַר לְמוֹאָב, מִכְּלָל אָדָם שֶׁלֹּא רָאוּי לְמֶלֶךְ, וַהֲרֵי נַעֲשָׂה מֶלֶךְ לְמוֹאָב. רִאשׁוֹן מַה כָּתוּב בּוֹ? Zohar Balak<\/strong>

\nNumbers 22:10<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר בִּלְעָם אֶל הָאֱלֹהִים בָּלָק בֶּן צִפֹּר מֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב שָׁלַח אֵלָי.”
\n“So Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me, saying,”
\nBecause of his ego and desire to be looked at as an important person, a king asked for his help. Balaam distorted the fact that Balak was not a son of a king. He was invited to be a king for Moab as the verse below says, ‘And Balak, the son of Zippor, was king of the Moabites at that time. The emphasis on ‘that time’ meaning that he was not a king before that time.
\nNumbers 22:4<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר מוֹאָב אֶל זִקְנֵי מִדְיָן עַתָּה יְלַחֲכוּ הַקָּהָל אֶת כָּל סְבִיבֹתֵינוּ כִּלְחֹךְ הַשּׁוֹר אֵת יֶרֶק הַשָּׂדֶה וּבָלָק בֶּן צִפּוֹר מֶלֶךְ לְמוֹאָב בָּעֵת הַהִוא.”
\n“So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak, the son of Zippor, was king of the Moabites at that time.”
\nThe next verse tells that Moab had a king, son of a king, and very important.
\nNumbers 21:26<\/a>
\n“כִּי חֶשְׁבּוֹן עִיר סִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי הִוא וְהוּא נִלְחַם בְּמֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב הָרִאשׁוֹן וַיִּקַּח אֶת כָּל אַרְצוֹ מִיָּדוֹ עַד אַרְנֹן.”
\n“For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon.”<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nWicked and negative people have big egos because they care more for honor and wealth in this world. People on the path of spiritual growth have fewer desires to inflate their egos and ‘show off. As the soul grows spiritually, it ascends higher. From above, the soul sees and understands that even if material things are needed for a comfortable life, they are not as important as expanding the soul with good actions. Keeping a closer connection to the Light source that nourishes and supports us is more important than ‘things’ that are temporary. The soul is with us forever. <\/p>\n

This Friday, July 9th, 2021, is Erev Rosh Chodesh<\/a> Av (Leo) and the souls of all the Tzadikim. Light a candle for all the Tzadikim and any of your favorite Tzadikim. Give Tzedakah, read, study Zohar and make your personal prayers.<\/p>\n
