43. לָמַדְנוּ, כָּל רִשְׁעֵי הַגֵּיהִנֹּם נִכְנָסִים לִמְדוֹרִים יְדוּעִים, וְכַמָּה פְתָחִים יֵשׁ לַגֵּיהִנֹּם, וְכָל הַפְּתָחִים כְּנֶגֶד פִּתְחֵי הַגַּן עֵדֶן. וּבְשָׁעָה שֶׁמּוֹצִיאִים אוֹתָם רְשָׁעִים שֶׁקִּבְּלוּ עָנְשָׁם, הֵם פּוֹתְחִים פְּתָחִים, וְשָׂמִים (וְשׁוֹאֲבִים) אוֹתָם לַחוּץ. וְכָל הַפְּתָחִים נִקְרְאוּ בִשְׁמָם כְּנֶגֶד פִּתְחֵי הַגַּן עֵדֶן, וְכָל פֶּתַח וּפֶתַח נִקְרָא שֵׁם כְּנֶגֶד אוֹתוֹ פֶּתַח הַגֵּיהִנֹּם, וְהַפְּתָחִים נוֹדָעִים כְּנֶגֶד הַפְּתָחִים, אוֹתָם פִּתְחֵי הַגַּן עֵדֶן.
\n44. בַּגֵּיהִנֹּם יֵשׁ מָדוֹר אַחֲרוֹן תַּחְתּוֹן שֶׁל כֻּלָּם, וְאוֹתוֹ מָדוֹר הוּא מָדוֹר עַל מָדוֹר, וְנִקְרָא (איוב י) אֶרֶץ עֵיפָתָה. מַה זֶּה עֵיפָתָה? כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שמות כח) רָבוּעַ יִהְיֶה כָּפוּל, וּמְתַרְגְּמִים – מְרֻבָּע יִהְיֶה עֵיף. גַּם כָּאן עֵיפָתָה, כְּלוֹמַר כְּפוּלָה. וְאוֹתוֹ נִקְרָא שְׁאוֹל תַּחְתִּית, שְׁאוֹל הוּא מָדוֹר אֶחָד, תַּחְתִּית הוּא מָדוֹר תַּחְתּוֹן. וְלָכֵן נִקְרֵאת אֶרֶץ עֵיפָתָה תַּחְתִּית, וְנִקְרֵאת אֲבַדּוֹן, וְעַל זֶה כָּתוּב (משלי טו) שְׁאוֹל וַאֲבַדּוֹן. וְכָל הַמְּדוֹרִים לֹא נִכְפְּלוּ, וְכֻלָּם לֹא מִתְעַיְּפִים חוּץ מִזֶּה.<\/div>\n

\nWe learned that the wicked in Gehennam<\/a> go into the known section. There are numerous openings to Gehinnam and all of them are opposite the openings in the side of the Garden of Eden. After the wicked receive their punishments in Gehennam<\/a> they are pulled out through the openings that are opposite other openings on the side of Garden of Eden. All openings have names that correspond to the ones on the other side<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n“אֶרֶץ עֵיפָתָה כְּמוֹ אֹפֶל צַלְמָוֶת וְלֹא סְדָרִים וַתֹּפַע כְּמוֹ אֹפֶל.”
\n‘A land as dark as darkness itself, As the shadow of death, without any order, Where even the light is like darkness.’ ”
\nThe last and lower section of all sections in Gehennam<\/a> called ‘אֶרֶץ עֵיפָתָה’ ‘Land of darkness. This is a double section one on top of the other.
\n‘שְׁאוֹל’ ‘Sheol’ is the upper section, and the lower section is called ‘אֲבַדּוֹן’ ‘Avadon<\/a>’, a name that means ‘lost’. Only the lower section that is called the ‘land of darkness’ is doubled.
\nProverbs 15:11<\/a>
\n“שְׁאוֹל וַאֲבַדּוֹן נֶגֶד יְהוָה אַף כִּי לִבּוֹת בְּנֵי אָדָם.”
\n“Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD, How much more the hearts of mankind!”
\nThis verse shows the two names of the lower section of Genennam ‘אֶרֶץ עֵיפָתָה’ ‘Land of darkness’ as one.<\/p>\n
