257. שָׂמַח רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, וְשָׂמְחוּ הַחֲבֵרִים. אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, אִם אוֹתוֹ סֵפֶר הָיָה אֶצְלֵנוּ, הָיִינוּ רוֹאִים מַה הוּא אוֹמֵר. אֲנִי אֶמְסֹר בִּמְסִירָה עַל מְנָת לְהַרְאוֹת לַמְּנוֹרָה הַקְּדוֹשָׁה. וְלָמַדְנוּ, אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, אוֹתוֹ הַסֵּפֶר הָיָה בְיָדִי שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר חֹדֶשׁ, וּמָצָאתִי בוֹ אוֹרוֹת עֶלְיוֹנוֹת וַחֲשׁוּבִים. כַּאֲשֶׁר הִגַּעְתִּי לְאוֹתָם סוֹדוֹת שֶׁהָיוּ מִבִּלְעָם, תָּמַהְתִּי.<\/div>\n

\nRabbi Elazar and his friends were happy. Rabbi Elazar said, if I can have the book to show the Holy Candle<\/a>, I will make a promise to return it. Rabbi Elazar wanted to show the book to his father, who is called the Holy candle<\/a>. He had the book for 12 months and found in it supernal<\/a> and precious lights. When he reached the secrets that came from Balaam, he was amazed by them.<\/p>\n

\nThe merchant said, one day I whispered a spell from the book and the letters were going up and down, then I was told in a dream, why are you entering an area that is not yours, and you don’t need it. I woke up and felt bad to part from the book because of the concealed secrets in it. I sent to that Jew, Rabbi Yossi, son of Rabbi Yehuda, and gave him the book.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nRabbi Elazar was a great Torah scholar, yet he understood that the book is on a high level, and it would be better to show it to his father, Rabbi Shimon, and receive his guidance.
\nThe merchant tried one of the spells in the book, but he could not use it safely because he was not on the proper level. The message in his dream was strong, and even though he didn’t like to let go of the book’s power, he understood that only people connected to the Torah could handle the book.
\nFrom the way it is written in the Zohar, we understand that he sent a message to Rabbi Yossi, inviting him to come and receive the book.
\nNowadays, there are old manuscripts with secrets about writing amulets and calling angels for different uses. Some people make jewelry with names, expecting protection from angels. I am against using these ‘commercial’ names because they can draw judgments instead of support. Remember that if you paid for it, it doesn’t have value beyond the cost of the material (silver, gold, etc.). People who make money from such things see the buyer as a client, not as a person who needs spiritual support. If they were righteous, then they would understand that the merits of helping a person in need are greater than any monetary profit.
\nAll the lights we need are concealed in the Torah, Zohar, and Tehillim. When we read them, we reveal the Light that emanates from the sacred text safely.<\/p>\n
