\nKing David expresses his faith<\/a> in Hashem<\/a>, saying, even if the people of the world come to make war with me, they can’t overcome me because you YHVH<\/a> shield me;
\nPsalm 3:4<\/a>
\n“וְאַתָּה יְהוָה מָגֵן בַּעֲדִי כְּבוֹדִי וּמֵרִים רֹאשִׁי.”
\n“But You, YHVH<\/a>, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.”
\nDavid asks the Holy One Blessed be He, master of the world, why there is no blessing that ends with my name as with Abraham, which is written (Genesis 15:1<\/a>) ‘I am your shield,’ and the blessing says “the shield of Abraham.” Why don’t they conclude the blessing with my name?<\/p>\n

\nThe Holy One Blessed be He replied to David, I had already examined and tested Abraham, and he stood the tests (10 of them) before me in complete trust. David said to him, then examine me, test me, my guts, and my heart.
\nSince David did the relation with Batsheva (2 Samuel chapters 11,12), David remembered what he said to the Holy One Blessed be He.
\nPsalm 17:3<\/a> (The standard English translations of this verse try to make logical sense but are mostly wrong. King David’s expression in the book of Psalms is beyond a logical language. It has spiritual connections and secrets. My translation below is not literal, but an explanation)
\n“בָּחַנְתָּ לִבִּי פָּקַדְתָּ לַּיְלָה צְרַפְתַּנִי בַל תִּמְצָא זַמֹּתִי בַּל יַעֲבָר פִּי.”
\n“You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night (when he ‘sinned’ with Bat Sheva); You have examined me, and please don’t find my thoughts as wrong; I have proposed that my mouth shall not tell my thoughts as transgression.”<\/p>\n

\nDavid said to Hashem<\/a>, you examined me with the test of Bathsheba; also, I asked you to purify me with your tests. I wish I didn’t ask you to test me, and my thoughts would not have been uttered out of my mouth.
\nKing David was willing to be tested like Abraham to receive the high level of “Shield” “מגן” (pronounced “Magen”). Hashem<\/a> forgave David for taking the improper way to connect to his soul mate and granted him the level of “Shield of David” “Magen David.”<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nTo achieve high spiritual levels, we need to pass different tests to show our level of certainty in Hashem<\/a>. Certainty is a connection to the Light that helps us get ‘Lighter’ and overcome challenges.
\nKing David regretted his request to be tested, and we learn from that, that even though we need to go through tests to achieve higher levels, we should not ask for them because the tests could be more challenging. We better accept small challenges to avoid greater ones. When we choose to climb small steps, we avoid the difficulties of climbing higher and complicated steps later.
\nIf we miss a test, we ask for forgiveness and guidance while moving forward. <\/p>\n

We live in challenging times. People feel it on different levels. Some less, some more, some go through challenging situations, feeling the walls closing around them.
\nNo matter how dark it is around us, we must live with the certainty that the Light is about to appear. If not the next minute, then the next hour, day, week, month, year, even a lifetime. Time is insignificant when we keep pushing forward toward the Light because our work in this world is for the soul to make us closer to the Light. Even in our last breath, we should thank Hashem<\/a> for the challenges we went through in life. It is the only way to finish our temporary existence in the world. The harder it is, the higher level we can achieve. We accept the small challenges, deal with them and keep moving forward to the next one.
\nKing David teaches us more in the following verse.
\nPsalm 118:5<\/a>
\n“מִן הַמֵּצַר קָרָאתִי יָּהּ עָנָנִי בַמֶּרְחָב יָהּ.”
\n“I called on the LORD (YH) in distress (from a narrow place); The LORD (YH) answered me in an open place.”
\nThis verse teaches us that even if we feel distressed and cannot move, Hashem<\/a> answers us, and we feel relief in open space.
\nThe name of Hashem<\/a> in this verse is YH יה. It represents the higher spiritual levels of Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a> from where we can receive wisdom and blessings. <\/p>\n

Psalm 130
\nPowerful eight verses connecting us from Malchut<\/a> to Binah<\/a>. Good to say in times of need for support.<\/p>\n

\nא שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת: מִמַּעֲמַקִּים קְרָאתִיךָ ה’.
\nב אֲדֹנָי, שִׁמְעָה בְקוֹלִי: תִּהְיֶינָה אָזְנֶיךָ, קַשֻּׁבוֹת – לְקוֹל, תַּחֲנוּנָי.
\nג אִם-עֲו‍ֹנוֹת תִּשְׁמָר-יָהּ – אֲדֹנָי, מִי יַעֲמֹד.
\nד כִּי-עִמְּךָ הַסְּלִיחָה – לְמַעַן, תִּוָּרֵא.
\nה קִוִּיתִי יְהוָה, קִוְּתָה נַפְשִׁי; וְלִדְבָרוֹ הוֹחָלְתִּי.
