The priest tests the faithfulness of a woman with special water. If the promiscuous woman smells the mouth of the faithful woman, she will experience &ldquo;her belly will swell, her thigh will rot, and the woman will become a curse among her people,&rdquo; as described in the verse above. Even though she was not tested herself, just by coming close to the woman of valor, the curses would be upon her as if she drank the water from the priest&rsquo;s hands in the aspect of the barley offering. The test of the pure woman is a deadly poison for the promiscuous woman.
