The Holy One, Blessed be He, did not leave my punishment after death.
\nSurely “he has chastened me severely” in this world to cleanse me. And “did not let me die in the other world, that he may take his revenge from me. Rabbi Yossi spoke for himself, I have been cleansed by the Holy One, Blessed be He, once in this world, and from now on I must watch my actions so I won’t be ashamed in the next world.<\/p>\n
Lesson;
\nDeath is the ultimate act of correction for the soul. When Rabbi Yossi was revived, he was as pure as a soul entering the Garden of Eden. Now that he is back in this world, with the support of souls that vouched for him that he wouldn’t sin, he had to be careful with his actions not to go back after 22 years with sins to cleanse.
\nSome people receive an extension of life because they changed and went on the righteous path, allowing them more time to work on their correction. These people may feel that their lives became harder but the truth is that they are represented with challenges to correct their souls and have greater merits in the world to come.
\nKing David gave thanks to Hashem<\/a> for giving him sufferings in this world so he could live after death in this world.
\nWe should always remember that life in this world is temporary.
