So Balaam struck the donkey to turn her back onto the road.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;standing in the way&rdquo; refers to the way of witchcraft and Magic that Balaam was occupied with. He asks why the angel had a sword drawn in his hand. Was it against the donkey? If he comes against Balaam, then why did the donkey see the angel and not Balaam? Why did he need a sword at all?<br>\nHe answers that the angel came to a stop both of them. He revealed himself to the donkey with mercy to take her out of the way of witchcraft and magic that Balaam cast on her.
