Rabbi Elazar said that the spirit of impurity in the house calls his friends, the <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Klipot&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Also Klipa. Literally means &amp;#039;shell&amp;#039;\/ &amp;#039;covering&amp;#039;. It&amp;#039;s a negative force that blocks the Light from being revealed.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=klipot\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Klipot<\/a>, to be there. And even knocking on utensils, which used to expel spirits and pests from some places, does not remove the pests from that house. That is why the verse declares and says, &ldquo;Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness&rdquo; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Jeremiah.22.13?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Jeremiah 22:13<\/a>), and this verse is repeated by the dwellers of that house.<\/p>\n<p>#155<br>\nRabbi Yossi entered a house one day; after consideration by the threshold of the house, he entered the interior of the house. He heard one voice that said, gather together; here is one of our opponents; let us hurt him before he leaves. They answered him; we cannot harm him unless he lives here. Rabbi Yossi was afraid and left. He said to himself, certainly, whoever is not following the words of the learned friends, put himself at risk.<\/p>\n<p>#156<br>\nRabbi Chiya said to him, but people of the other nations that sleep inside the house are not harmed. He said to him they come from their side, and therefore there is no harm to them. But he who fears sin can be harmed. And even they, if they continue to live in the house, do not get out safely. He said to him, but it is written,<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Job.21.9?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Job 21:9<\/a><br>\n&ldquo;&#1489;&#1464;&#1468;&#1514;&#1461;&#1468;&#1497;&#1492;&#1462;&#1501; &#1513;&#1464;&#1473;&#1500;&#1493;&#1465;&#1501; &#1502;&#1460;&#1508;&#1464;&#1468;&#1495;&#1463;&#1491; &#1493;&#1456;&#1500;&#1465;&#1488; &#1513;&#1461;&#1473;&#1489;&#1462;&#1496; &#1488;&#1457;&#1500;&#1493;&#1465;&#1492;&#1463;&#1468; &#1506;&#1458;&#1500;&#1461;&#1497;&#1492;&#1462;&#1501;.&rdquo;<br>\n&ldquo;Their houses are safe from fear; Neither is the rod of God upon them.&rdquo;<br>\nHe answered that is because the house was built righteously, and the wicked took it and lived in it, and the verse should read like this, &ldquo;their houses are safe from fear, meaning because it was built righteously, then the rod of God is not upon them.<\/p>\n<p>Lesson;<br>\nBefore moving to a new dwelling place, it is better to check the &lsquo;history&rsquo; of the place and avoid getting into a &lsquo;sick bed&rsquo;. New paint on the walls is important to disconnect from what the walls can &lsquo;tell&rsquo;\/ reflect back on us. Inviting people at the beginning to make a meal, Torah study, and even a prayer with ten men adds great positivity and &lsquo;washes&rsquo; away any impure spirit.
