And one may ask where he went and what became of him. He (the Elder) said to himself, &lsquo;Old man, old man, what have you done? You thought to speak a little and then escape from this, but behold, you had entered a place where no other man had entered since the days when Doeg and Ahitophel posed these questions, about those four hundred questions they asked about the tower flying in the air. And no man could answer them until King Solomon came and clarified each and everyone according to its proper explanation. The Zohar, in its essence, cloaks the secrets of the Torah in layers of allegory and metaphor. Without the insights of spiritual luminaries like the Holy Ari, and those who followed in his footsteps, such as Rabbi Ashlag of blessed memory, the profound depths of the Torah would remain elusive to us.<br>\nWe are privileged to study the Zohar through &lsquo;the Sulam&rsquo; (the Ladder), which are the translations and commentaries provided by Rabbi Ashlag on the Zohar.
