If he would receive healing from a great, God-fearing man, like Naaman, who went to Elisha (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/II_Kings.5.1?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">2 Kings 5:1<\/a>), we would follow him. But now, as he is going to those distant from the world, who are lepers and sorcerers, far from the Torah, abominable above all, it is forbidden for us to appear before them. Blessed is the Merciful One who saved us from them. And that man is forbidden to receive healing from them.&rdquo; Rabbi Yehuda said, &ldquo;But we have learned that all means are permissible for healing except for the trees of Asherah (idol worship), etc.&rdquo; (Pesachim 25*). He said to him, &ldquo;That is idolatry, and it is forbidden. Not only that but it is written,<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Deuteronomy.18.10?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Deuteronomy 18:10<\/a><br>\n&ldquo;&#1500;&#1465;&#1488; &#1497;&#1460;&#1502;&#1464;&#1468;&#1510;&#1461;&#1488; &#1489;&#1456;&#1498;&#1464; &#1502;&#1463;&#1506;&#1458;&#1489;&#1460;&#1497;&#1512; &#1489;&#1456;&#1468;&#1504;&#1493;&#1465; &#1493;&#1468;&#1489;&#1460;&#1514;&#1468;&#1493;&#1465; &#1489;&#1464;&#1468;&#1488;&#1461;&#1513;&#1473; &#1511;&#1465;&#1505;&#1461;&#1501; &#1511;&#1456;&#1505;&#1464;&#1502;&#1460;&#1497;&#1501; &#1502;&#1456;&#1506;&#1493;&#1465;&#1504;&#1461;&#1503; &#1493;&#1468;&#1502;&#1456;&#1504;&#1463;&#1495;&#1461;&#1513;&#1473; &#1493;&#1468;&#1502;&#1456;&#1499;&#1463;&#1513;&#1461;&#1468;&#1473;&#1507;.&rdquo;<br>\n&ldquo;There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,&rdquo;<br>\nThey went on their way.<\/p>\n<p>Lesson;<br>\nThe father wanted to take a &lsquo;shortcut&rsquo; but lost his son. He had good intentions but chose the wrong path.<br>\nSome lure with &lsquo;benefits&rsquo; and offer their magic (names\/objects) as a solution, but this is a perilous path, risking not just their life but also their future (as seen in the son&rsquo;s story). <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;hashem&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;#039;Hashem&amp;#039; is a reference to the name of YHVH.We say Hashem &amp;#039;the Name&amp;#039; instead of the actual call to &amp;#039;YHVH&amp;#039; that is not allowed except when we read the Torah in full verses or in blessings.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=hashem\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Hashem<\/a> is our sole healer and provider of sustenance.
