They came to a ditch with water. Rabbi Yossi stepped into the water with his clothes and said, &ldquo;I wish the irrigation ditches and water channels that people make in their fields to divert water did not exist.&rdquo;<br>\nRabbi Shimon said to him, &ldquo;You must not say such things. They are the servants of the world, and it is forbidden for a person to treat the servants of the Holy One, Blessed be He, with disrespect, even if they cause harm. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.&rdquo;<br>\n&ldquo;And God saw everything that He had made&rdquo; is stated in general terms to include even snakes, scorpions, and mosquitoes, even those that seem to harm the world. About all of them, it is written, &lsquo;and behold, it was very good.&rsquo; All of them are servants of the world, governors of the world, and people do not know this.<\/p>\n<p>Lesson;<br>\nRabbi Shimon emphasizes that all elements of the world, including those created by human intervention, are servants of <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;hashem&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;#039;Hashem&amp;#039; is a reference to the name of YHVH.We say Hashem &amp;#039;the Name&amp;#039; instead of the actual call to &amp;#039;YHVH&amp;#039; that is not allowed except when we read the Torah in full verses or in blessings.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=hashem\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Hashem<\/a> and should be treated with respect.<br>\nIt is forbidden to disrespect any aspect of the world that serves a function, even if it appears to cause inconvenience or harm.
