They arrived at a place called Gush &#7716;alav, which was desolate. They sat near a cemetery, and Rabbi Yesa had with him a torn piece of a Torah scroll&mdash;that is, he was holding a torn section of a Torah scroll with a column of text.<br>\nA grave before them shook as they sat and cried out, &ldquo;Woe, woe! The world is in distress because the Torah has been exiled to this place. Or perhaps the living have come to mock us and disgrace us with shame using their Torah.&rdquo;<br>\nRabbi &#7716;izkiyah and Rabbi Yesa were startled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>#269<br>\nRabbi &#7716;izkiyah said to the grave, &ldquo;Who are you?&rdquo;<br>\nHe replied to him, &ldquo;I am a dead person, and I have been awakened because of the Torah scroll. Once, the world was in distress, and the living came here to awaken us with a Torah scroll. My companions and I went ahead to the sleepers of Hebron (the Patriarchs). When they gathered in the Garden of Eden with the soul of the Tzadikim on the level of <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Soul levels&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Soul levels&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Nefesh&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt; is the lower level of Light in the body but is the most important to sustain the life of a person. The Liver is the control center of the Nefesh in the body.&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Ruach&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt; is higher and comes from Zeir Anpin. We achieve this additional light in this world by following the ways of the Torah with the general rule &amp;quot;Do good and avoid bad&rdquo;. The Heart is the center for the Ruach.&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Neshama&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt; is the highest level of Light that can be achieved in this world. Righteous people that already have the level of Ruach and act selflessly for the benefit of others, can achieve the level of Neshama. Since it&rsquo;s the highest level, it connects to the brain.The higher-level of the soul controls the level below it. Neshamah and Ruach can leave the person if he loses the righteous path. The level of Nefesh is removed only at the time of death, meaning when the heart stops and there is no blood circulation in the body.The other two levels of the soul are Chaya and Yechida, but they can only connect to the soul outside the body because their level of purity can not have a physical connection in this world.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=soul-levels\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Ruach<\/a>, it was found among them that the Torah scroll that the living had brought before us was invalid and falsified the name of the King. This was because an extra &lsquo;vav&rsquo; was found in the verse &lsquo;&#1493;&#1456;&#1513;&#1473;&#1465;&#1505;&#1463;&#1506;&#1463;&#1514; &#1513;&#1473;&#1462;&#1505;&#1463;&#1506; &#1513;&#1473;&#1456;&#1514;&#1468;&#1461;&#1497; &#1508;&#1456;&#1512;&#1464;&#1505;&#1493;&#1465;&#1514;&rsquo;&nbsp; where it was written &lsquo;&lsquo;&#1493;&#1456;&#1513;&#1473;&#1465;&#1505;&#1463;&#1506;&#1463;&#1514;&rsquo;. They said, &lsquo;Since they have lied in the name of the King&mdash;for the Torah is the name of the King&mdash;they shall not return to them to inform them whether their prayer was accepted. Because of this, they expelled me and my friends from the study hall at that time.<\/p>\n<p>Notes:<br>\nRabbi Yehuda recounts an incident in which the world was in distress, and the living came to the cemetery to awaken the souls of the Tzadikim by bringing a Torah scroll. Motivated by this, he and his companions proceeded to inform the &ldquo;sleepers of Hebron,&rdquo; referring to the Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.<br>\nWhen they gathered in the Garden of Eden with the spirits (Ruchot) of the Tzadikim, it was discovered that the Torah scroll brought by the living was invalid because it contained an error&mdash;an extra letter &lsquo;vav&rsquo; in a specific verse. The verse in question is about animals that are permitted to be eaten, specifically mentioning those that &ldquo;divide the hoof completely&rdquo; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Deuteronomy.14.7?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Deuteronomy 14:7<\/a>). The incorrect addition altered the word &ldquo;shasa&rdquo; (&#1513;&#1473;&#1464;&#1505;&#1463;&#1506;), meaning &ldquo;split,&rdquo; to &ldquo;ve&rsquo;shasa&rdquo; (&#1493;&#1513;&#1473;&#1464;&#1505;&#1463;&#1506;), introducing an unnecessary conjunction &lsquo;and.&rsquo;<br>\nThis mistake was considered a falsification of the &ldquo;name of the King,&rdquo; symbolizing <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;YHVH&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The Holy Name&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=yhvh\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex='0' role='link'>YHVH<\/a> because the Torah is viewed as embodying <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;hashem&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;#039;Hashem&amp;#039; is a reference to the name of YHVH.We say Hashem &amp;#039;the Name&amp;#039; instead of the actual call to &amp;#039;YHVH&amp;#039; that is not allowed except when we read the Torah in full verses or in blessings.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=hashem\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Hashem<\/a>&rsquo;s name and essence.
