Instead, wicked ones, who are punished every day in <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Gehinnom&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Gehinnom, aka hell,&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt; is the level that God created on the second day of Creation. It is under the control of the other-side and where the wicked souls go through their &amp;#039;punishment&amp;#039; \/ Purification.The normal purification process called &amp;#039;whitening&amp;#039; in Gehinnom takes 12 months, but some wicked may get stuck in there for a longer period.The Garden of Eden is higher level, made for the righteous, and Gehinnom is for the wicked in the opposite direction below.The fire in Gehinnom burns day and night like the fire of selfish desires.When the souls get &amp;#039;whitened,&amp;#039; the impurity of their past actions remains in Gehinnom as boiling feces. They seemed to him as something burned in a fire and removed before it is entirely consumed, like a smoldering ember saved from the flames, as in &ldquo;&#1490;&#1461;&#1509; &#1513;&#1473;&#1462;&#1506;&#1493;&#1465;&#1500;&#1462;&#1492; &#1502;&#1461;&#1492;&#1464;&#1488;&#1461;&#1513;&#1473;&rdquo; &ldquo;a plucked from the fire.&rdquo;<br>\n#170<br>\nWe have learned that when a person&rsquo;s soul departs from this world, all their relatives and friends in the World of Truth accompany the soul. They show the places of pleasure in the Garden of Eden and the place of punishment. If the person is righteous, they see their place and ascend to sit and delight in the Upper Garden of Eden in that world.<br>\nAnd if they are not righteous, The soul remains in this world until the body is buried in the ground. Once the burial occurs, various prosecutors seize the soul until it reaches <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Dumah&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The name of the angel, Dumah (&#1491;&#1493;&#1502;&#1492;), means &amp;quot;silence&amp;quot; or &amp;quot;stillness&amp;quot; in Hebrew, reflecting his association with the realms of the dead and the afterlife. He is responsible for watching over the souls of the departed, particularly those undergoing judgment in Gehennam. He ensures that justice is administered to souls according to their deeds in life.The Zohar (Acharei-mot #265) Zohar, tells that he acts as a messenger who informs the souls of the Tzadikim about the prayers and sufferings of the living. When the living are unable to communicate directly with the departed righteous souls, Dumah facilitates this connection. Dumah is portrayed as an intermediary who can relay messages between the living and the dead. The righteous are escorted by spiritual guides to their destined place in the Upper Garden of Eden, where they enjoy the light of the Shechina.
