(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Leviticus.5.1?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Leviticus 5:1<\/a>) Let us return to the verse: &ldquo;Until the day breathes&rdquo; (Song of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/%20Songs.2.17?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\"> Songs 2:17<\/a>). This is advice for the soul&mdash;That it should be careful not to sin, and should repent and purify itself before the day breathes&mdash;before the day of this world passes, and that difficult day comes when the King will demand judgment, to remove the soul from this world. &ldquo;&#1493;&#1456;&#1504;&#1464;&#1505;&#1493;&#1468; &#1492;&#1463;&#1510;&#1468;&#1456;&#1500;&#1464;&#1500;&#1460;&#1497;&#1501;&rdquo; &ldquo;And the shadows flee away&rdquo;&mdash;This is a secret known among the friends: That when the time comes for a person to leave the world, the &ldquo;shadow&rdquo; (&#1510;&#1468;&#1462;&#1500;&#1462;&#1501;, tzelem) of the person departs from him. Thus it is written: &ldquo;&#1506;&#1463;&#1491; &#1513;&#1473;&#1462;&#1497;&#1468;&#1464;&#1508;&#1493;&#1468;&#1495;&#1463; &#1492;&#1463;&#1497;&#1468;&#1493;&#1465;&#1501;&rdquo; &ldquo;Until the day breathes&rdquo;&mdash;that is, before the day breathes its last, and a person must depart from this world&mdash; &ldquo;And the shadows flee&rdquo;&mdash;Meaning, when the spiritual shadow (tzelem) leaves him&mdash;Let him return before his Master.<br>\n#211<br>\nRabbi Elazar said: A person has two shadows (&#1510;&#1468;&#1462;&#1500;&#1462;&#1501;,tzelem) while he is in his state of existence&mdash;One great and one small, as it is written: &ldquo;And the shadows flee&rdquo; (Song of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/%20Songs.2.17?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\"> Songs 2:17<\/a>) &mdash;The term &ldquo;shadows&rdquo; is in the plural, and the minimum in the plural language is two. When both shadows are present together, then the person is whole and established in his being. Therefore, it is written: &ldquo;And the shadows flee.&rdquo;&mdash;This means that when these two shadows depart, a person must then examine his actions, correct them before his Master, and confess his sins. For the Holy One, Blessed be He, is called Merciful and Gracious, and He accepts those who return (repent, do <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Teshuva&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Repentance. &amp;#039;&#1514;&#1513;&#1493;&#1489;&#1492;&amp;#039;. The Hebrew word literally means &amp;#039;Return&amp;#039; to represent the aspect of leaving the bad way and returning to the righteous ways taught in the Torah.&nbsp; We can do Teshuva every day before going to sleep. It helps cleanse the soul from negative &amp;#039;attachments&amp;#039; and support a new beginning in the following day.The most basic and yet powerful repentance is saying&amp;quot;&#1495;&#1464;&#1496;&#1464;&#1488;&#1514;&#1460;&#1497; &#1506;&#1464;&#1493;&#1460;&#1497;&#1514;&#1460;&#1497; &#1508;&#1464;&#1468;&#1513;&#1463;&#1473;&#1506;&#1456;&#1514;&#1460;&#1468;&#1497;&amp;quot;&amp;quot;chata&amp;#039;ti aviti pasha&amp;#039;tti&amp;quot;Loosely translates to &amp;quot;I have sinned, I did wrongs, I did crimes&amp;quot;. By admitting the wrongs, a person opens a path for correction and soul cleansing.Even if a person did a lot of sins and wrongs, but say these words with intention before he dies, he will have a share in the world to come, after he goes through the cleansing process in Gehennam.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=teshuva\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">teshuvah<\/a>) before Him.<br>\nNotes:<br>\nA person has two spiritual shadows or images&mdash;one great and one small.
