We drank too much wine and became intoxicated, and all that night, I clung to my sister. In the morning, when I awoke, the innkeeper was fighting with another man. I intervened between them to separate them, and they beat me: one striking me from one side and the other from the <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Sitra Achra&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;In Aramaic &amp;#039;&#1505;&#1496;&#1512;&#1488; &#1488;&#1495;&#1512;&#1488;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;Sitra Achra&amp;#039;, the &amp;#039;Other-side&amp;#039;, the impure system, opposite of holiness,&nbsp; everything that is negative and drains the Light we earned or wish to receive.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=sitra-achra\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">other side<\/a>. This mark entered into my brain (head) because of the blows. I was saved through a physician who was among us.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Notes:<br>\nThe man confessed both his moral failing and the physical event that left a visible mark on him: The sin was clinging improperly to his sister while intoxicated&mdash;a grave violation of boundaries. The mark on his head came through a physical beating that he interpreted as Divine punishment for his sin. His own admission matches Rabbi Abba&rsquo;s spiritual discernment: the face reveals not just physical experiences but also spiritual corruption.<br>\nThe Zohar here subtly teaches that even if a punishment appears natural (like being beaten by men), it is spiritually orchestrated based on a person&rsquo;s inner moral state. Sins&mdash;especially sins involving sexual impropriety&mdash;cause lasting blemishes both spiritually and physically.<br>\nOur physical forms are spiritual vessels. Sins, especially those against the sanctity of the body (sexual sins), mark the soul&mdash;and, at times, even the body itself. Even when external events appear coincidental, they may be divinely guided consequences meant to bring a person to awareness, <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Teshuva&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Repentance. &amp;#039;&#1514;&#1513;&#1493;&#1489;&#1492;&amp;#039;. The Hebrew word literally means &amp;#039;Return&amp;#039; to represent the aspect of leaving the bad way and returning to the righteous ways taught in the Torah.&nbsp; We can do Teshuva every day before going to sleep. It helps cleanse the soul from negative &amp;#039;attachments&amp;#039; and support a new beginning in the following day.The most basic and yet powerful repentance is saying&amp;quot;&#1495;&#1464;&#1496;&#1464;&#1488;&#1514;&#1460;&#1497; &#1506;&#1464;&#1493;&#1460;&#1497;&#1514;&#1460;&#1497; &#1508;&#1464;&#1468;&#1513;&#1463;&#1473;&#1506;&#1456;&#1514;&#1460;&#1468;&#1497;&amp;quot;&amp;quot;chata&amp;#039;ti aviti pasha&amp;#039;tti&amp;quot;Loosely translates to &amp;quot;I have sinned, I did wrongs, I did crimes&amp;quot;.
