I laughed at those words.”
\nNotes:
\nElazar shows deep honor and gratitude to Rabbi Abba by inviting him into his home and preparing a generous meal — symbolically reminiscent of Abraham’s hospitality (when the three angels came to him). During the meal, Elazar shares a mysterious and spiritually symbolic encounter: he recalls owning a red heifer (which, in Torah law, is linked to purification from impurity). Before it birthed the calf they were eating, a mysterious man appeared and gave it a prophetic name — “Bat Sheva, <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"
Binah<\/div>
When it is related to the Sefirot, 'Mother' represents Binah. The mysterious man disappears immediately after — a classic signal of an angelic or prophetic encounter. Elazar, not understanding the message, laughed at the time. But in hindsight, this event foreshadowed his own spiritual rebirth — the heifer and her calf being symbolic of purification and the birthing of new holiness (just as Shlomo was born to Bat Sheva after King David’s atonement).
\nEven seemingly mundane events (a cow, a stranger, a laugh) can carry deep spiritual meaning that is only understood later.
\nHowever, it is important to understand that in our times, a person should not attempt to interpret personal events or dreams as “messages” from Heaven on their own. Without deep Torah grounding, especially in the inner wisdom of Kabbalah, one may misinterpret natural occurrences or fall into confusion and even spiritual danger. Only a Torah scholar with knowledge of sod (deeper Kabbalistic interpretation) and yirat shamayim (fear of Heaven) is fit to discern such hidden meanings, and even then, only when necessary. Therefore, one should focus on sincere <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"
Teshuva<\/div>
Repentance. 'תשובה'.
