The senses and their spiritual levels<\/strong><\/p>\n

Y – Seeing – right – eyes – Chokmah<\/a> – East – Camp of Yehuda
\nH – Hearing – left – ears – Binah<\/a> – North – Camp of Dan
\nV – Smell – center – Nose – Zeir Anpin<\/a> – South – Camp of Reuben
\nH – Speaking – vessel – Mouth – Malchut<\/a> – west – Camp of Ephraim<\/p>\n

Genesis 49:9<\/a> “ גּוּר אַרְיֵה יְהוּדָה,” “Judah is a lion’s cub”
\nLion אַרְיֵה has the same letters as seeing ראיה. Judah represents leadership. The east is where the sun rises and brings light to the day.
\nThe eyes are placed higher in the face and are the highest sense. It is closer to the brain to indicate its importance.<\/p>\n

Habakkuk 3:2<\/a> “יְהוָה, שָׁמַעְתִּי שִׁמְעֲךָ יָרֵאתִי” “O YHVH<\/a>, I have heard the report of you, and am afraid;”
\nBinah<\/a> is left column<\/a> of the upper three Sefirot. Hearing is the aspect of receiving and tribe of Dan that was located at the north representing the left column<\/a>.
\nEars are a bit lower than the eyes are farther apart. They relate to spiritual abilities and connections.<\/p>\n

Leviticus 1:9<\/a> “רֵיחַ-נִיחוֹחַ לַיהוָה” “a sweet smell to YHVH<\/a>”
\nThe nose is in the center of the face and has two sides like the eyes and ears but both are connected with inner wall. The right nostril is the aspect of Chessed<\/a> and the left nostril of Gevurah<\/a>. Each hole has the aspect of the letter Yod and the inner wall is like the letter Vav. Together they form the letter Alef.<\/p>\n

As the aspect of the six (Vav) Sefirot of Zeir Anpin<\/a>, the nose represents the Tikkun process of a person in this world. The camp of Reuben was located on the south. His name is ראו-בן, meaning ‘see’ ‘son’. Zeir Anpin<\/a> is the aspect of son to Chokmah<\/a> (Father) and Binah<\/a> (Mother<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The mouth is located at the lower center of the face. It has one opening that brings out everything that is above it. It is the aspect of Malchut<\/a>. The mouth has no limits of expression in the lower world and represents the power to manifest.<\/p>\n

Proverb 21:13<\/a>
\n“אֹטֵם אָזְנוֹ, מִזַּעֲקַת-דָּל– גַּם-הוּא יִקְרָא, וְלֹא יֵעָנֶה”
\n“If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered”<\/p>\n

This verse that the Zohar brings here, is to teach us that all our senses are important parts of the Tikkun process. We can not be passive beings focusing on selfish desires but we must open up to every situation that ‘calls’ us to action. <\/p>\n
