God gives us the soul and ‘pushes’ it in the flesh, which is a physical matter that has temporary state.

Blinded by the illusion of this world, we seek to prolong our stay in this material state as long as possible and we call it life. The soul is limited to the movement of the matter it is dressed with. The body energy maybe growing for the first 20 years of our lives but then it turns to a constant deterioration. People go into extreme efforts and fight to keep their physical existence in shape to extend their lives. Very few focus on the improvement of their soul in preparation for the true and immortal life.

Most rich people feel that God is on their side because they have all that they want or need in the physical realm. It could be for 120 years or for 1000 years. Most poor people, living in harsh conditions have difficulties believing in God because they feel ‘neglected’ and without his blessings.

To understand where we should put the focus, work and value of life, we will look into few examples.

Imagine a billionaire on a plane that lost its engines and in a free fall onto the Rocky Mountains. The captain screams “we are going to crash in 10 seconds may God save our souls”. At this point an angel appears next to the billionaire and tells him “sign all your money to me and I will save you from this crash”. What would he do? Would he negotiate his way to death or just say “Deal!”. What would a parent give for the life of his child? What would we do to buy few more years in this world?

Our priorities change in an instant when it comes to life and death. The goal of our souls is to be ready for death in order to merit life and not to live until death. The true life is the experience of the immortal soul in the Final Redemption.

How do we achieve it?

The answer is in “And you shall love YHVH your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.”

‘Might’ from the verse above is our ability to do in the physical world. This will merit him ‘richness’ of light in the world to come. Rich people should use the gifts that God gave them to support many people and families. Their workers should be happy to work for them and share their ‘might’ for creating better products and services. If their Tikkun plan puts them to test of having a business that requires them to be greedy in order to be successful, then they must get rid of this business and move to another one. They better live on minimum, rather than build more of the ‘death’ aspect and lose the benefits of immortal life.

A rich person can not come to God and say “I did a lot with the money you gave me. I built Synagogues, gave millions to charities and supported spiritual people”. God would tell him; “So you gave 10% to charity but you still have billions in the bank that could have helped many people”. “Did you treat your workers with dignity? Did you give them the pay that they deserved? Were you faithful to your wife and family? Did you teach and guide your children to be better people?

Giving 10% is a rule for the poor but not for the rich. All matter is left behind when the soul is separated from the body. It breaks down and is recycled back to nature. The only thing that moves on, is the soul.

Rich and poor people have the same opportunities to build a great vessel to merit and enjoy the light of the Final Redemption. The simple formula is “And you shall love YHVH your God with all your HEART, and with all your SOUL, and with all your MIGHT.”

The first word of the verse is “וְאָהַבְתָּ”,” And you shall love” begins with the letter Vav that is the ‘connector’ between the light and the vessel. The numerical value is 414, which is twice ‘Light’, “אור” (207). I wish us all to see the Light in this life and in the world to come, Amen.

{||}

Click here to listen to the Daily Zohar
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-21" title="Daily Zohar -1026 Scanning from right to left top to bottom" src="https://staging.dailyzohar.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/dz8-1026.gif" alt="Holy Zohar text.
