Rabbi Menuch Hendel ben Shmarya (in the Rabbinic spelling: Manuch Hendil. As a rabbi and arbiter, Rabbi Menucha Handel was involved in several halakhic affairs and polemics, in which he experienced his halakhic opinion. Among other things, the polemic dealt with the question of a divorce given by an apostate, and in an affair in which it was revealed that a person who served as a witness in many divorce cases turned out to be a robber, disqualifying him for witnessing and casting a heavy shadow on the deportation. The two other rabbis who were asked at the same time in this affair were the great ones of the same generation: Rabbi Meir of Lublin, and Rabbi Binyamin Aharon Selnik of "Mashat Binyamin."
About a month before he passed away, the name of Rabbi Menuch Handel was linked to an affair that later agitated the Jewish world in Europe, and was nicknamed "The Getaway from Vienna". Rabbi Menuch Handel and his friend Rabbi Yehoshua Falk Katz (SM) arranged a divorce for the wife whose husband was lying on his deathbed.
Rabbi Menucha Handel died on July 3, 22th of Tammuz, and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Vienna.
