Born around the 1845 to Rabbi Yehoshua Aharon, in the town of Zafro near Pas in Morocco. ", His born name was Rahamin Elisha In the meaning of a holy sage, but he was famous by his second name. His name was also associated with stories of miracles and wonders.
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, he served as a judge in Rabbi Shalom Azulay's court, along with rabbis: Yishma'av Ovadia and Rafael Amram Maman. His signature appears on various proclamations and regulations with his friends.
In the month of Sivan 1922 (summer 1922), he immigrated to Israel at the head of his congregation, fifty-three families. A wealthy Jew
named Mordechai Color supported him financially and with his help Rabbi Afriat made the immigration to Israel.
He passed away on February 7, 1928, in Jerusalem, and is about 83 years old.
